Is There A Ring App For Windows
How to Watch Ring Video Doorbell On Your Computer, Laptop, or Tablet
AUTHOR: Carlos Paras
UPDATED: November 30, 2021
The Ring Video Doorbell makes it easy to keep tabs on who is at your front door, even when you're not at home. All of this can be done from the Ring app on a smartphone. But there's also a way that you can watch the video feed directly on your computer, laptop, or tablet. It will work for any of the Ring Video Doorbell models.
This comes in handy if you're at home and want to watch a constant feed of what's going on at your front door without having to hold up your smartphone. You can watch Live View while you're working on your computer or just have it on in the background just in case someone comes up to your front door.
In this article, I'll go over the steps to take so that you can stream live HD video and two-way audio from your doorbell camera straight to your iOS, Android, Mac, or Windows 10 devices.
Before we begin, it's important to note that running the Live View feature on your Ring Video Doorbell uses a ton of battery life.
If you use the rechargeable battery pack to run your Ring Video Doorbell, you're going to have to recharge your battery a lot more often if you're viewing the Live View continuously. However, if your doorbell camera is hardwired, you really don't have to worry about this since you're getting a constant stream of electricity from your power lines.

How to Watch Ring Video Doorbell on Your Computer
Step One - Download the "Ring – Always Home" App
I've provided links to the app below and listed the system requirements. Choose the correct link for your device:
- iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch (click here) – Requires iOS 10.0 or later
- iPhone, iPad, and Mac (click here) – Requires OS X 10.11 or later, 64-bit processor
- Android Devices (click here) – Requires Android 5.0 and up
- Windows 10 Devices (click here) – Requires Windows 10 version 16299.0 or higher (x64, x86)
- Note: As of April 10th 2018, the Ring app will no longer function on Windows Mobile devices. The Ring app will continue to function on Windows desktops, laptops, and tablets running Windows 10 Fall Creators Update (version 1709) or newer.
- Ring Alarm content will not appear on the Ring app running on a Windows desktop, laptop, or tablet. Alarm functions can only be controlled through an Android or iOS device.
Step Two - Create or Log in to Your Account
If this is your first Ring product, you will be asked to set up an account. To set up an account:
- Open the Ring app.
- Select "Create Account."
- Follow the in-app instructions to create a new account.
Step Three - Tap "Set Up a Device"
Tap "Set Up a Device", then select "Doorbells".
Step Four - Scan the QR code or MAC ID barcode on your Ring device
The QR code or MAC ID can be found on the back of your Ring Video Doorbell.
- Point the camera on your smartphone at the QR code or MAC ID barcode on the back of your Ring Video Doorbell.
- This code can also be found on the product packaging or on the Quick Start Guide that came with your device.
- Center the code in the phone camera's view at the top of the screen.
- Once the code is recognized, a green square (for QR code) or a green line (MAC ID barcode) will appear, and the setup will proceed to the next step.
Note: If you experience issues with scanning the QR code or MAC ID barcode, you can select "Set Up Without Scanning" and select your Ring Video Doorbell model to continue through the setup process.
Step Five - Specify Your Location
If this is your first time setting up a Ring device, you will receive a request informing you that the Ring app wishes to use your phone's location services to pinpoint your location. Allowing the app to do so will assist with inputting your address.
Enter your address information into the app, then confirm it.
If you have established a location previously, you can select it from the list of your locations.
Note: Without a specific location, certain features of your Ring Video Doorbell will not work properly.
Step Six - Name Your Device
Select a specific name for your Ring Video Doorbell to distinguish it from other Ring devices on your account. You can choose one of the default names that are suggested, or you can enter your own by selecting "Custom…" at the bottom of the list.
Step Seven - Put your Video Doorbell into Setup Mode
The directions for how to put your Video Doorbell into Setup Mode will vary for each model. Consult your user's guide for specific instructions for your model.
When there is a spinning white light on the front of your Ring Video Doorbell, tap the "Continue" button in your Ring app.
Step Eight - Connect to Your Ring Device
iOS: Tap "Join" when the Ring app asks to join the Ring wifi network.
Android: Your device should automatically connect to the Ring wifi network.
If your device does not automatically connect to the Ring wifi network, or if you chose to continue without scanning in step four, please follow the steps below:
- Press the home button on your phone to leave the Ring app.
- Navigate to the Settings app
- Tap Wifi
- On Android, you may need to navigate to Connection then wifi.
- Select the Ring wifi network from the list of available networks. The network will appear as either:
- Ring- followed by the last six digits of the MAC ID.
- Ring Setup followed by the last two digits of the MAC ID.
- Once connected, close your Settings app and return to the Ring app.
Step Nine - Connect Your Ring Doorbell to Your Wifi
Be sure you're near your router and have your Wifi password ready.
- Select your Wifi network
- If you have more than one Wifi network, select the network closest to where you will be installing your Ring Video Doorbell.
- Enter your Wifi password
- Press Continue.
Note: After connecting to your wifi network, your Ring Video Doorbell may update its internal software. While performing an update, the light on the front of your device will flash white. Once the light stops flashing, you know the update is complete and you can continue the setup. Please do not attempt to ring the doorbell at this time, as it will further delay the update.
Step Ten - Test Your Device
Once your Ring Doorbell has completed its update and setup, push the front button to complete a test call. This will initiate your software and ensure your doorbell is ready to function.
Step Eleven – Set Up Live View
Now that the Ring App is installed on your device and you are logged in with your credentials, you are ready to set up the Live View function on your Video Doorbell.
The Live View function on your Ring Video Doorbell allows you to view a live video feed from your doorbell camera at any time.
Here are instructions on how to set up Live View:
- On the "My Devices" screen under your Location, select the device from which you want to access Live View.
- Tap the "Live View" button to watch a live video stream from your device.
- To enable two-way audio between your phone and the device, press "Talk."
- To end your viewing session, press "End."
